How Can Institutions Unite to Achieve the Viksit Bharat Vision?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 31 (NationPress) India's leadership has laid out a definitive vision for the future, urging institutions to collectively work — both individually and in partnership — towards the aspiration of Viksit Bharat, stated Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh, Director General and CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), during an announcement on Saturday.
He underscored the increasing and changing demands from industries and emphasized the necessity for institutions to align with national priorities, as per the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The IICA welcomed a senior delegation from the National Productivity Council (NPC), led by Neeraja Shekhar, Director General, along with Umashankar Prasad, Deputy Director General (Group), to discuss potential collaborative efforts in areas such as training, research, productivity, sustainability, and compliance support.
During this visit, the heads of various schools and centers made comprehensive presentations regarding IICA’s objectives and initiatives.
The ministry noted that these presentations showcased IICA’s diverse role in education, training, research, advocacy, and advisory services, aiding both governmental and private sector initiatives.
Shekhar highlighted that the NPC was founded in 1958, shortly after India's independence, at a time when the nation faced scarce resources and an urgent requirement to enhance productivity.
She reflected on the pivotal productivity delegation to Japan, which was instrumental in institutionalizing productivity initiatives in India. Since that time, NPC has broadened its focus from the industrial sector to encompass agriculture, services, MSMEs, sustainability, green productivity, and initiatives linked to ESG.
She further mentioned NPC’s active participation with the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), which facilitates international exposure, inter-country study visits, expert exchanges, and frameworks for productivity benchmarking. These efforts assist in evaluating industrial readiness, organizational strength, financial capability, and manufacturing maturity, particularly for MSMEs.
According to the statement, both organizations expressed a strong commitment to progress collaboratively, combining IICA’s capabilities in policy research, training, and advisory services with NPC’s practical, implementation-focused productivity expertise, to facilitate India’s transition to a high-income, competitive, innovative, and sustainable economy.
