Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, April 1 (NationPress) In a significant stride towards achieving energy self-sufficiency in Rajasthan, the Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (Jaipur Discom) marked a remarkable achievement in revenue collection for the financial year 2025–26. The discom registered a total revenue realization of Rs 29,462 crore, exceeding the billed amount of Rs 28,863 crore by Rs 599 crore.
This accomplishment reflects not only a complete recovery of current dues but also a successful effort in reclaiming substantial outstanding arrears from previous defaulters.
With this, Jaipur Discom has set a new record with a 102 percent revenue collection efficiency, the highest ever recorded in its 26-year history.
The previous best was 101.02 percent achieved in FY 2017–18.
Among the three operational zones, Bharatpur Zone stood out with a collection efficiency of 104.63 percent, followed by Kota Zone at 103.64 percent and Jaipur Zone at 101.32 percent. This is particularly impressive for Bharatpur Zone, which encompasses traditionally difficult districts like Bharatpur, Deeg, Dholpur, and Karauli.
Strategic actions such as strict measures against power theft, recovery from Permanently Disconnected Consumers (PDC), and resolving long-standing cases through Lok Adalats significantly boosted performance.
Moreover, steps were taken to prevent defaulting PDC consumers from securing new connections under different identities, motivating them to settle their outstanding dues.
Enhanced power supply alongside rigorous adherence to 100 percent billing and recovery protocols led to an over four percent increase in revenue collection in these districts.
All 18 circles of Jaipur Discom achieved 100 percent or greater revenue collection.
Notable performers included Karauli with 108.80 percent, Bundi at 105.66 percent, Kota at 104.08 percent, Bharatpur Circle at 103.75 percent, and Dholpur and Sawai Madhopur both at 103.71 percent. Other circles like Baran, Deeg, Dausa, and both Jaipur City North and South also recorded efficiencies above 100 percent.
Maintaining 100 percent billing and revenue realization was a key focus throughout the year.
Sub-divisions with high technical and commercial losses were monitored closely.
Nodal officers from the Accounts Branch were assigned at the circle level to pinpoint and address any challenges.
Dedicated initiatives were launched to recover dues from governmental entities, including Water Supply, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and Urban Local Bodies.
Lists of PDC consumers with arrears exceeding Rs 20,000 and Rs 50,000 were compiled, leading to targeted recovery efforts.
For the first time, all circles achieved and maintained a 'Zero Defective Meter' status.
This initiative eliminated average billing practices and ensured that billing is based entirely on actual consumption, greatly enhancing transparency and accuracy in revenue.
Simultaneously, Jaipur Discom improved its power infrastructure through initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan (KUSUM), Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PM Suryaghar), and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme.
This resulted in distribution losses decreasing to 11.02 percent, while Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses fell to a record low of 9.24 percent, marking the first time it has gone below 10 percent, alongside consistent enhancement in revenue realization.
Over the years, Jaipur Discom's revenue realization has seen a steady rise from below 100 percent in earlier years to consistently surpassing 100 percent in recent financial years, culminating in this unprecedented achievement in 2025–26.
