Goyal stated that the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) serves not merely as a trade agreement, but as a comprehensive framework aimed at fostering investment, technology collaboration, skill development, and constructing resilient value chains, as noted in his post on X.
He underscored that the opportunities span various sectors, including precision engineering, clean energy, smart infrastructure, advanced materials, digital manufacturing, and financial services.
Goyal urged businesses from Liechtenstein to view India as a long-term base for their aspirations, highlighting the significant $100 billion investment commitment from EFTA nations.
This landmark agreement entails a 15-year timeline during which the European bloc will invest $100 billion, contributing to the generation of one million direct jobs in India.
Additionally, he shared insights about his visit to the Hilti Group headquarters in Liechtenstein, where he met with CEO Jahangir Doongaji. "With the group's longstanding presence in India's construction sector for over 25 years, our discussions revolved around enhancing localization, boosting value addition, and increasing global shipments from India, all aligned with our manufacturing and export growth objectives," he mentioned in his post.
Moreover, the minister emphasized the importance of technology collaboration for developing safer and smarter infrastructure, backed by expanding investments, rapid innovation, and robust domestic capacity building.
Piyush Goyal had previously engaged in discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Liechtenstein, Sabine Monauni, focusing on enhancing trade, innovation, and clean-tech cooperation. The India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) officially commenced in October 2025, involving the four-nation bloc of Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.
Goyal's two-day trade discussions in Brussels were aimed at making significant progress toward finalizing the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
The Indian delegation sought zero-duty access for labor-intensive sectors such as textiles, leather, apparel, gems and jewellery, and handicrafts, according to an official statement.
