Nasscom Introduces Playbook to Assist Developers in Managing AI Risks in India

New Delhi, Nov 29 (NationPress) On Friday, Nasscom launched The Developer’s Playbook for Responsible AI in India, designed to assist developers in recognizing and addressing risks in the development, deployment, and utilization of AI within the country.

This playbook was unveiled at the inaugural edition of Confluence for Responsible Intelligence (RICON) in New Delhi, amidst increasing challenges that developers face in navigating the intricate and rapidly changing landscape of AI risk management.

It highlights the collective commitment of the Government of India and Nasscom to create a cohesive industry framework for the identification and mitigation of AI risks in India.

The IT industry association pointed out that a diverse assembly of Indian and global subject matter experts and stakeholders from various sectors—including industry, government, academia, and civil society—conducted a thorough review and validation of the playbook.

This document embodies a well-rounded and robust strategy for responsible AI practices that are closely aligned with the nation’s broader interests and societal welfare.

“This playbook provides innovators with the necessary guidance to pinpoint potential risks, conform to best practices, and implement responsible AI methodologies, while accommodating evolving strategies in AI development and deployment,” stated Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Singh, who is also the CEO of the IndiaAI Mission, emphasized that “the playbook aims to synchronize risk management frameworks across both public and private sectors.” It lays out a pathway that weaves ethics into the very fabric of AI development.

This playbook offers developers a practical framework to align their practices with the principles of responsible AI.

It “builds upon the ongoing initiatives of the Nasscom Responsible AI Hub to promote responsible AI practices among industry stakeholders,” remarked Ankit Bose, Head of AI at Nasscom. The Nasscom Responsible AI Hub was established in 2022 to facilitate the responsible large-scale adoption of AI.
