New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) On Wednesday, NITI Aayog officially introduced ‘Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0’, a comprehensive three-month campaign that commenced on January 28 and will extend until April 14, 2026. This initiative aims to enhance critical development indicators in Aspirational Districts and Blocks throughout India.

The primary objective is to attain full coverage, also termed saturation, of essential services linked to health, nutrition, education, sanitation, and animal welfare.

This initiative was launched by B.V.R Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog, accompanied by senior officials, including Rohit Kumar, Mission Director for the Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme, as well as planning secretaries, district collectors, development partners, and state and district officials.

Building upon the success of the inaugural Sampoornata Abhiyan in 2024, the new phase is focused on enhancing six vital indicators within Aspirational Blocks.

These indicators encompass ensuring young children consistently receive supplementary nutrition through the ICDS scheme, refining the measurement of children at Anganwadi centres, providing functional toilets and drinking water at Anganwadis, increasing the number of schools with adequate girls’ toilet facilities, and augmenting bovine vaccination against Foot and Mouth Disease.

At the district level, the campaign will target five key areas: boosting the number of infants weighed at birth, improving tuberculosis case reporting from both public and private healthcare facilities, ensuring regular health and nutrition days in villages and urban areas, enhancing girls’ toilet facilities in schools, and expanding animal vaccination initiatives.

NITI Aayog has urged districts and blocks to conduct launch events and ongoing outreach efforts to sustain momentum.

Local administrations will devise three-month action plans, monitor progress monthly, run awareness and behaviour change campaigns, and perform regular field visits for implementation oversight.

The central government, state governments, and relevant ministries will collaborate closely with NITI Aayog to strengthen planning, build capacity, and enhance service delivery.

The overarching aim of Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 is to foster noticeable and enduring improvements in the quality of life within the nation’s most underdeveloped regions.
