New Delhi, Oct 11 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday introduced two innovative initiatives – PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Pulse Self-Reliance Mission – aimed at boosting the self-sufficiency and welfare of farmers across the nation.
During a special agricultural event in the national capital, PM Modi remarked that these schemes “will transform the destiny of Indian farmers.”
“On this momentous occasion, we are launching two pivotal schemes for the nation’s self-reliance and farmer welfare. The first is the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, followed by the Pulse Self-Reliance Mission. These initiatives are designed for the self-reliance of our nation and will reshape the futures of countless farmers in India,” PM Modi stated.
“Agriculture has been integral to our development journey. It is crucial that the government remains committed to supporting agriculture in line with the evolving times,” he noted, criticizing past administrations for neglecting the agricultural sector, which has led to its continuous decline.
“For India to attain swift progress in the 21st century, it was essential to reform its agricultural framework, a process that commenced after 2014. Over the last 11 years, our government has consistently worked to empower farmers and enhance agricultural investment,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
“We have implemented reforms... from seeds to market, prioritizing farmers' interests,” he added.
He revealed that for the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, 100 districts were selected based on three criteria: yield per field, cultivation frequency, and access to loans or investments for farmers.
“This scheme incorporates 36 government initiatives,” PM Modi mentioned.
Moreover, the Prime Minister underscored that the Dalhan Aatmnirbharta Mission “is not merely a mission to boost pulse production, but also a campaign to empower our future generations.” This mission was initiated with a financial allocation of Rs. 11,440 crore.
“While wheat and rice are essential for satiating hunger, nutritional diversity is crucial, particularly for those following a vegetarian diet,” the PM stated.
Emphasizing the need for a protein-rich diet for overall health, he advocated for enhanced planning to promote pulses – a vital protein source for vegetarians.
