A 17-year-old student, identified as Rohit Sahebrao Dhangar, allegedly died by suicide in Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, on Raksha Bandhan after posting a series of emotional farewell messages on social media. The incident has left his family devastated and prompted a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

What Happened

Rohit, a Class 11 Arts student, had spent part of the day at his father's house, where his sister tied him a Rakhi. He returned home with his father on a two-wheeler shortly after. Once home, he posted a photograph with his sister on Instagram along with a message that read: 'Take care of everyone, Didi. Don't leave Mom and Dad alone. I'm leaving.'

He also posted a second status that read: 'When I come next time, I will be everyone's favourite. I will erase all the remaining scars. There will be no tears in your eyes, and I will not take anything away from your heart. Thank you…'

Friend's Alert and Rushed Response

According to preliminary information, Rohit had also sent a video message to a friend, reportedly saying he had lost money while playing online games. The friend, alarmed by the message, rushed to Rohit's residence in the Juna Asoda Road area of Jalgaon. By the time he arrived, Rohit had allegedly hanged himself.

The family immediately transported him to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jalgaon, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The Shani Peth Police Station has registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation. Officers are examining Rohit's social media posts, messages, and the video sent to his friend to piece together the events leading up to his death. The role of online gaming and any associated financial losses is also being looked into, according to reports.
