New Delhi, May 20 (NationPress) Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) has officially commenced construction of its latest manufacturing facility in Haryana, backed by an investment of approximately Rs 1,200 crore and a projected annual output of 7.5 lakh units during the initial phase.
This new plant, situated in IMT Kharkhoda—a dedicated industrial area developed by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC)—is in line with the government's strategy to enhance industrial infrastructure, attract foreign investments, and create job opportunities in the area.
Operations at the plant are expected to begin in 2027, significantly strengthening SMIPL’s manufacturing capabilities within India. Once operational, the facility will create approximately 2,000 jobs, according to a company statement.
Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director of SMIPL, emphasized that the establishment of their second plant in India “demonstrates our commitment not only to expanding as a brand but also to growing alongside the people and communities of India.”
He added, “By setting up our operations in IMT Kharkhoda, we aim to play a vital role in regional development, support job creation, and align with the government’s vision for industrial advancement.”
The facility will incorporate advanced automation and energy-saving technologies, aligning with Suzuki’s global objectives for carbon neutrality and sustainability.
Spanning 100 acres, the manufacturing area will initially occupy 25 acres, with an additional 25 acres reserved for green spaces, reflecting the company's commitment to sustainable growth.
Since commencing operations in India in February 2006 from its Gurugram plant at Kherki Daula, SMIPL has been dedicated to providing a range of products, including scooters (125cc), premium motorcycles (150cc and above), and larger bikes tailored to Indian preferences.
The new manufacturing site is part of SMIPL’s strategy to address the increasing demand for its products in the Indian market while fostering local development and job creation.
