Rajkot, Jan 12 (NationPress) The Reverse Buyers-Sellers Meet at Hall No. 1 of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Exhibition (VGRE) has surfaced as one of the event’s major highlights, attracting significant international interest and noteworthy business activity.

This meet assembled 53 international buyers from 23 countries along with over 1,800 manufacturers and vendors from Gujarat, establishing a robust platform for direct global trade.

As stated by Suvidh Shah, Additional Director General of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), this meet presents local producers with a unique chance to display and market their products directly in international markets, promising considerable economic rewards.

The initiative is collaboratively organized by the Government of Gujarat’s iNDEXTb, Office of the Industries Commissioner, MSME Department, RAMP, FIEO, CAPEXIL, and the Gujarat Jewellery Promotion and Export Promotion Council (GJPEPC).

This meet spans a variety of sectors, including handloom, handicrafts, textiles, agri-food, tiles and ceramics, engineering goods, automobiles, and gems & jewellery.

International buyers have come from the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, the Gulf countries, Australia, Africa, and Central Asia, alongside 22 domestic buyers seeking sourcing opportunities.

The business engagement has been impressive: more than 2,200 B2B meetings took place over two days, resulting in over 1,000 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) being signed.

Remarkably, the meet generated export inquiries totaling nearly Rs 500 crore, reflecting strong global demand for Gujarat’s manufacturing and artisanal products.

The Vibrant Gujarat Summit was initiated in 2003 by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi as a strategic response to rejuvenate Gujarat’s economy after the 2001 earthquake, aiming to establish the state as a global investment hub.

What started as a state-centric investor meet has transformed into one of the world’s most influential economic forums, attracting heads of state, global CEOs, international organizations, and industry leaders.

Over time, the summit has broadened its focus from investment promotion to encompass technology, innovation, sustainability, and global partnerships, aiding Gujarat in accelerating industrialization, infrastructure development, and its rise as India’s manufacturing powerhouse.

Point of View

I observe that the Reverse Buyers-Sellers Meet exemplifies the strategic initiatives taken by the Gujarat government to enhance its global trade relations. This event not only showcases local talent but also positions Gujarat as a key player in international markets, aligning with India's vision for economic resilience and growth.
