Mumbai, April 19 (NationPress) The landscape for creators and their economic framework is undergoing a significant transformation, and the ‘WAVES 2025’ event aims to establish itself as a global hub for media and entertainment, akin to how Davos functions as a platform for economic discourse, stated Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Saturday.
In a media interaction before the inaugural World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) set to take place in Mumbai from May 1-4, the minister articulated that with technological advancements, the traditional model is being replaced by a new paradigm, which brings forth both opportunities and challenges.
“The structure of the media landscape is evolving,” he emphasized, calling for a collective national effort to adapt to this new model.
As an illustration, the minister pointed out that the era when large studios were essential for content creation has passed. Nowadays, a creator from a remote area in Jharkhand or Kerala can produce high-quality content that garners millions of views.
He highlighted that the creator economy is experiencing exponential growth.
According to the Minister, “our visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recognized the impact of creators and their role in the economy by showcasing India’s soft power on an international scale.”
India’s creative economy has received a remarkable boost, with over 100,000 registrations for WAVES 2025. The leading innovators will be recognized with awards, celebrating their contributions to the evolving global media and entertainment environment.
Vaishnaw remarked, “we are discovering ways to connect the world with our creators.”
WAVES is emerging as a global connector between creators, buyers, and markets, providing scalable creative solutions, the minister noted. Through WAVES, both buyers and sellers are gaining a platform where creators can present their content, and companies can obtain quality creative work.
