New Delhi, March 9 (NationPress) The forthcoming World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) will act as a significant forum to link Indian creators and technologists with global industry experts, as stated by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) on Sunday.

The inaugural edition of WAVES is scheduled to occur from May 1 to May 4 in Mumbai.

As per the government, WAVES aims to unite professionals from the media and entertainment (M&E) sector to highlight India’s capabilities and talent.

The event will concentrate on four primary areas: broadcasting & infotainment, AVGC-XR (animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, and extended reality), digital media & innovation, and films.

Its goal is to foster new opportunities for collaboration between Indian and international industry players.

A standout feature of WAVES is the animation filmmakers competition, created in collaboration with Dancing Atoms, a prominent animation firm.

This initiative aims to discover and promote the finest storytelling talent in animation from India.

The competition is open to students, amateurs, and professionals. Participants must submit a logline, a two-page summary of their film concept, and a poster.

Chosen participants will receive mentorship sessions and masterclasses led by industry experts.

The winning entries will be declared in April 2025, with prizes and global exposure on offer for the top submissions.

While films can be produced in any language, the submission forms must be filled out in English to accommodate an international jury.

The competition attracted entries from across the nation and overseas, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for animation.

Selected participants will participate in a comprehensive mentorship program, where industry specialists will assist them in refining their ideas through masterclasses.

Entries will be evaluated based on originality, entertainment value, market appeal, audience engagement, and presentation.

Winners will be granted the chance to pitch their projects to industry leaders, gain global exposure, and vie for exciting prizes.

The competition witnessed a remarkable response, with 1,290 participants submitting entries, including 19 from abroad.
