New Delhi, Jan 11 (NationPress) Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated on Sunday that the initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have significantly altered India's developmental landscape by transitioning from a focus on women-centered assistance to women-led growth. This shift ensures dignity, security, and increased involvement of women in the process of nation-building.
Puri made these remarks following a discussion with professionals, industry leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, and students at the 'Professionals Connect 2026' conclave hosted by the Tamil Nadu BJP Professional Cell in Coimbatore.
He portrayed Coimbatore as a city embodying enterprise, discipline, and a sense of quiet confidence.
Puri emphasized that India's pursuit of energy security through the enhancement and expansion of its energy infrastructure across the hydrocarbons value chain, along with its emphasis on transitioning to green energy, plays a crucial role in the mission of Viksit Bharat under PM Modi's guidance.
“I have had the honor of participating in several of PM Modi's groundbreaking schemes that have significantly improved lives and garnered global attention. These initiatives have shifted the discourse from women-centered development to women-led development,” he remarked.
During the dialogue, Puri pointed out the favorable outcomes of the Modi government's reforms and policies, asserting they have fortified the India growth narrative and positioned the nation on a trajectory to become the world's third-largest economy.
He noted that the advantages of these reforms have permeated all segments of society, resulting in unparalleled levels of social and financial inclusion.
The minister also discussed India’s commitment to energy security, emphasizing the need to expand energy infrastructure across the hydrocarbons value chain while hastening the transition to green energy.
He highlighted that India has already reached a 20 percent biofuel blending target and is making consistent strides in future fuels like green hydrogen as part of the vision for a developed India.
Puri noted that over four crore homes constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana have been registered in women’s names or jointly with them, with an additional three crore houses set to be announced in 2024.
“Toilets constructed under the Swachh Bharat Mission have provided dignity and security to girls, often referred to as ‘izzat ghars’,” he concluded.
