Los Angeles, May 7 (NationPress) Gil Junger, the director behind the beloved 1999 romantic comedy “10 Things I Hate About You,” featuring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles, has revealed exciting news about a follow-up trilogy.

In a recent interview with People, Junger disclosed that he is collaborating with original producer Andrew Lazar on this new project. The first installment is titled “10 Things I Hate About Dating,” which will be succeeded by “10 Things I Hate About Marriage” and “10 Things I Hate About Kids,” according to reports from variety.com.

10 Things I Hate About Dating is definitively in the works as a feature film,”

Junger stated. “We’re developing it right now.”

He expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of reuniting with Stiles, noting that her character, Kat Stratford, “really spoke to young women in a very powerful way.”

Additionally, he mentioned Larry Miller, who portrayed Kat’s father, as a potential returning cast member, although he admitted he hasn’t focused much on casting yet.

“If it resonates with (the original cast) and I can have some cameos or even real parts, I’d love (that),” Junger remarked.

The original film follows the journey of Kat Stratford, played by Stiles, a clever yet unpopular teenager overshadowed by her accomplished younger sister, Bianca, portrayed by Larisa Oleynik.

The movie also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Larisa Oleynik. The screenplay, crafted by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, modernizes William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, set against the backdrop of a late-1990s American high school.

However, Kat's solitary teenage years change when she encounters the rebellious bad boy Patrick Verona, played by the late Ledger, who tragically passed away in 2008 at the age of 28.

When asked if he would use the sequels to honor Ledger’s legacy, Junger replied, “I think that’s a beautiful idea, and the answer is now going to be yes. …He deserves to be loved.”
