Mumbai, Aug 16 (NationPress) As his horror comedy film “Stree 2” celebrated its first anniversary, Abhishek Banerjee expressed that portraying the lovable Jana feels like a return home, granting him the chance to delve into innocence, vulnerability, and humor simultaneously.

Reflecting on this milestone, Abhishek remarked: "Stree 2 will always be dear to me, not only due to its immense success but also because it was crafted with so much love, laughter, and chaos on set. Taking on the role of Jana feels like home; it is a character that lets me explore innocence, vulnerability, and humor all at once."

Directed by Amar Kaushik, “Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank” is a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree. The film features Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana as a group of friends who must confront Sarkata, a headless malevolent force kidnapping the women of Chanderi and engaging in a battle with Stree.

Abhishek describes the audience's affection for Jana as “nothing short of magical.”

“The unseen picture I’ve shared with Sunil Kumar, who plays the demon Sarkata, captures the camaraderie, fun, and dedication that brought this film to life.”

Regarding his co-stars, he shared: “We felt like a family on set — Raj, Shraddha, Pankaj sir, Apar, Amar, and the whole crew — everyone contributed their unique magic. A year later, I’m still grateful for how fondly people remember and celebrate the film and Jana. Here’s to more stories that evoke laughter, fear, and love equally.”

The film also featured special cameo performances by Tamannaah Bhatia and Varun Dhawan.

Next, Abhishek will star in Baaghi Bechare, directed by Sumit Purohit, alongside Pratik Gandhi and Faisal Malik.

This project, crafted by Sumit Purohit, who previously worked on 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story, is supported by the creators of Mirzapur.

Baaghi Bechare is a satire, with Variety describing Faisal Malik, known for his role in Panchayat, as highlighting it as part of “this transformative phase of Indian cinema.”
