Abhishek Banerjee Reveals His Character 'Jana' Is A Favorite Among Spirits

Mumbai, Jan 6 (NationPress) Actor Abhishek Banerjee has suggested a more significant role in the horror-comedy landscape following the unveiling of the film slate. He revealed that his character ‘Jana’, who has been integral to the “Stree” franchise and “Bhediya”, is adored by both ghosts and demons.

Maddock Films recently introduced their horror-comedy lineup, which includes projects such as Thama, Shakti Shalini, Chamunda, Pehla Mahayudh, and Doosra Mahayudh.

Reflecting on this announcement, Abhishek stated: “In ‘Stree’, ‘Bhediya’, and ‘Munjya’, audiences have encountered Jana, and regarding the future projects, let me just say that Jana is bhooton (ghosts) and daanavo (demons) ka favorite, so anything is possible.”

He further expressed: “Not only as an actor but as someone passionate about this genre, this marks an exciting beginning for 2025.”

Abhishek has played a pivotal role in all three films within the Maddock universe, with his character Jana acting as a connecting element among “Stree 2”, “Bhediya”, and “Munjya”.

Previously, the actor mentioned that being part of the Maddock universe has been an exhilarating journey, and he feels fortunate to have contributed to a genre that has made a significant impact.

“Each of these films has its unique essence, but the shared elements of humor and suspense have drawn audiences back repeatedly,” he noted.

“As an actor, I consistently seek roles that challenge me, and I am grateful that these films have enabled me to delve into new aspects of the comedy-horror genre. Witnessing audience enjoyment of these films time and again makes all the effort worthwhile.”

He was last featured in “Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank”, directed by Amar Kaushik. This film is the fourth chapter in the Maddock Supernatural Universe, serving as a sequel to “Stree” from 2018.

The cast includes Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, portraying a group of friends tasked with defeating Sarkata, a headless evil entity that is kidnapping women in Chanderi.
