Abhishek Malik: ‘Jamai No. 1’ Highlights the Saas-Damaad Narrative

Mumbai, Dec 21 (NationPress) Actor Abhishek Malik, who portrays Neel Paranjape in “Jamai No. 1”, states that the series offers a novel viewpoint by concentrating on the saas-damaad narrative.

“It’s a male-focused show, which is uncommon on television. The majority of programs center around women, but Jamai No. 1 introduces a fresh viewpoint with its emphasis on the saas-damaad drama,” Abhishek noted.

He further explained: “My character, Neel, is authentic, spiritual, and cherishes his roots, yet he is also a jugadu who knows how to resolve issues. This distinctive relationship with his mother-in-law sets the series apart.”

Discussing how the show differs from his previous roles, the actor mentioned, “Male-centric shows are a dream for any actor since television is largely characterized by saas-bahu dramas. Being the face of the show and taking on the lead role was exhilarating for me.”

He shared that he had eagerly awaited the show's launch, which faced delays and involved numerous mock shoots.

“The distinctive concept really captivated me.”

Abhishek remarked: “Most television shows are led by female characters, but Jamai No. 1 provides a refreshing perspective with its saas-damaad dynamic. Neel is a relatable character who honors his values while being clever and resourceful. The manner in which he engages with his mother-in-law and corrects her makes this series stand out from typical dramas.”

When asked what aspects of the show would resonate with the audience, he replied: “I believe viewers will identify with Neel’s deep-rooted values. His father is a pandit, and he remains faithful to his cultural beliefs while navigating challenging situations.”

“Neel is not your conventional hero, but circumstances will shape him into one as he stands for what is right. Audiences will enjoy his journey.”

He feels a strong connection to his character Neel.

“Similar to him, I am also devoted to Shiv and believe in advocating for what’s right. I hold my family in high regard, just as Neel does. It feels as though I’m portraying a version of myself on screen.”
