Aditya Sarpotdar, Director of ‘Munjya’, Believes SRK is the Ideal Choice for an Indian Adaptation of ‘Heretic’

Mumbai, December 13 (NationPress) Filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, renowned for his blockbuster film ‘Munjya’, was present at a special screening of the horror flick ‘Heretic’. He expressed that if an adaptation of ‘Heretic’ were to be produced in India, Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan would be the ultimate choice for the role.
‘Heretic’ narrates the intense journey of Sister Barnes (played by Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (played by Chloe East), whose ordinary day spirals into chaos after they mistakenly knock on the wrong door.
What begins as a harmless interaction rapidly transforms into a perilous psychological confrontation with the sinister Mr. Reed. As the plot develops, the young women face a grueling test of faith, where belief serves as both a source of empowerment and a potentially dangerous pitfall.
A standout aspect for him was the surprising choice of Hugh Grant in a role far removed from his usual genre. Aditya remarked, “The film's unique selling point is Hugh Grant, who is one of my favorite actors; I’ve never seen him in such a genre. He’s mostly known for romantic films and is so charming and delightful. Seeing him in this new light is fantastic.”
He added, “There couldn’t be a more fitting actor than Shah Rukh Khan for a film like Heretic, and who else in India could embody this role better than him?”
In the film, Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East portray two missionaries caught in a perilous survival game. The movie aims to push the limits of psychological horror.
Produced by A24 Films and presented by PVRINOX Pictures, ‘Heretic’ is currently showing in theaters.
On another note, ‘Munjya’, which had its global theatrical release on June 7, 2024, stands as the eighth highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.
