Aishwarya Rajinikanth, director of the upcoming multi-lingual film Texla and daughter of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, took to social media on Tuesday to pen a heartfelt birthday message for her lead actor Suraj Venjaramoodu, the acclaimed Malayalam actor who plays one of the two central roles in the film. The warm gesture comes as the production remains actively underway in Chennai.

In the film, Suraj Venjaramoodu is reportedly cast as the father of actor Jai, who plays the other principal lead. George Maryan, widely praised for his performance in the blockbuster Dragon, is also part of the cast in a pivotal role. The project is produced by Kannan Ravi Groups, co-produced by Deepak Ravi, and features music by ace composer Yuvan Shankar Raja.

How Texla Came Together

Texla was officially launched with a grand pooja ceremony at the Leela Palace in Chennai in March 2025, attended by the full cast and crew as well as film personalities including actor-director Seeman and Samuthirakani. Prior to the title announcement, the project was referred to internally as #KRG09. The title was unveiled through a teaser released by Kannan Ravi Group.

The title teaser offered an evocative glimpse into the film's world: a group of children in a thatched hut waiting anxiously, a man watching rain clouds overhead, and eventually the name 'Texla' projected onto a cloth screen using reflected sunlight — a sequence that drew immediate attention for its nostalgic, rustic tone.

Shooting officially commenced on 2 June 2025, when the production house posted a video from the set with the note: 'Every frame starts with a belief. Every journey starts with a moment. Today, #Texla takes its first step — Shooting starts!'

The Scale of the Release

Kannan Ravi Group has positioned Texla as an ambitious pan-India release, planned across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The production house described it as 'a wholesome and sure-shot entertainer' promising 'a powerful and engaging cinematic experience for viewers of all backgrounds.' The collaboration with Aishwarya Rajinikanth was announced with the group stating it 'firmly believes that cinema thrives on meaningful collaborations.'

With shooting in progress and a celebrated cast assembled, Texla is shaping up as one of the more closely watched multi-lingual productions of the current Tamil film season.
