Akshay Kumar Remembers His 12-Film Legacy with Asrani: A Journey of Learning
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 15 (NationPress) As his horror-comedy “Bhooth Bangla” prepares to debut in theaters, Bollywood icon Akshay Kumar took a moment to reflect on his collaborative journey with the late actor Asrani, with whom he has shared the screen in 12 films, including titles like Khatta Meetha, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan, Bhagam Bhag, and Garam Masala.
Asrani, who passed away in October 2025 at the age of 84, will be featured posthumously in the film. “Bhooth Bangla” represents one of his final performances, alongside “Haiwaan”.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Akshay shared a black-and-white photo of himself with Asrani, stating: “Kabhi kabhi ek tasveer sirf yaadon ka tukda nahi hoti… ek poori journey ko samet leti hai Yeh picture humari Bhooth Bangla ki shoot se hai...Asrani ji ke saath meri second last film. (Sometimes, a picture isn’t merely a fragment of memories… it encapsulates an entire journey within it. This image is from the Bhooth Bangla shoot… my second last film with Asrani.)”
Akshay noted that collaborating on 12 films was akin to receiving a masterclass in acting. “Total 12 films humne saath ki, aur har ek mein maine unse kuch naya seekha… it was like a masterclass every single time.” (We worked together on a total of 12 films, and in each, I learned something new from him… it felt like a masterclass every time.)
He emphasized that Asrani effortlessly made comedy seem simple.
Akshay remarked: “Comedy itni aasaan lagti thi jab woh karte the, lekin asal mein woh ek mushkil kala hai. Asrani ji uske ustad the aur hamesha rahenge.” (Comedy always appeared easy when Asrani performed it, but in reality, it’s a challenging art. He was, and will always remain, a master of it.)
“Bhooth Bangla kal release ho rahi hai... mere liye yeh sirf ek film nahi, ek yaad hai… ek tribute hai… ek salute hai uss legend ko Asrani ji, aap hamesha yaad aayenge.” (The Bhooth Bangla release is tomorrow… for me, it’s not just a film—it’s a memory, a tribute, a salute to that legend Asrani ji. You will always be remembered.)
