Music composer Amit Trivedi is set to release a deeply personal 6-track album titled 'Unsung Unreleased', featuring songs originally composed for films that never made the final cut. The teaser of the album was unveiled on Friday, 7 August, with the first single slated to drop on 12 August.

The Thought Behind the Album

Trivedi, celebrated for his work on films such as 'Dev.D', 'Bombay Velvet', 'Lootera', and 'Queen', said the project was born out of a straightforward conviction. 'The thought behind 'Unsung Unreleased' was simple, why should a song have to wait just because it didn't eventually make it into the film it was created for? If I still believe in the song and feel it deserves to be heard, I'd rather release it independently and let it find its own audience,' he said.

The composer added that a film's change of course does not diminish a song's inherent worth. 'The film may have changed, but that doesn't take away from what the song was meant to be. That's really where Unsung Unreleased comes from, giving these songs a life beyond the films they were originally created for. And in many ways, being an independent artist gives me the freedom to finally let them be heard,' Trivedi said.

Release Schedule and Platform

The first track from the album will go live on 12 August, with the remaining five songs rolling out every 15 days thereafter. All tracks will premiere on AT Azaad, Trivedi's independent music label and YouTube channel, bypassing traditional film-music distribution entirely.
