Mumbai, April 15 (NationPress) Actress Anu Aggarwal, known for her role in the original Aashiqui, has expressed her views on the new leading actors of the franchise's third installment.

In discussing Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela headlining Aashiqui 3, she conveyed that the pair should feel thankful for the opportunity to continue such a storied legacy. When asked for advice for actors stepping into a project like Aashiqui, Anu Aggarwal told IANS, “I say this not out of arrogance, whether it’s about me, Mahesh Bhatt’s films, or even T-Series—anyone who joins Aashiqui is entering a legacy. When you inherit a legacy, half your fight is won already. A massive audience will come to see you simply because it carries the Aashiqui name. Therefore, newcomers should approach this opportunity with gratitude and respect.”

Anu also reminisced on how personally significant the project was for her, indicating that Aashiqui was more than just a role—it was a pivotal experience.

“When I became part of Aashiqui, it wasn’t a hit at the time. Mahesh Bhatt wasn’t recognized as a commercial filmmaker; he was primarily an art-house director taking his first step into mainstream cinema. So, for me, Aashiqui was not just a film I worked on—it was something I helped shape and nurture. It holds immense personal value to me. It’s like my child, my essence. That project is incredibly dear to me.”

Anu Aggarwal also touched upon the timeless nature of love in cinema, especially regarding the forthcoming Aashiqui 3. She stressed that, despite changing trends and evolving societal views, the core of love remains unchanged. Aggarwal articulated that love, at its essence, is both universal and eternal. While the depiction of love may evolve to fit modern sensibilities, the fundamental emotions and experiences that characterize love will always endure.

When inquired about the distinctions between the original Aashiqui and its upcoming sequel, Aggarwal remarked, “The reality is, no one can foresee what will resonate with the audience. Whether it’s a film, a song, the music, the cast, or even the director—you can’t identify what will strike a chord. You’re right—the songs from the original Aashiqui continue to be cherished. I completely agree. However, every new iteration—Aashiqui 2, Aashiqui 3—has made its own genuine effort. They’ve all aimed to create music that connects. Ultimately, who knows what will succeed? It’s always somewhat of a mystery.”

Anurag Basu’s direction in Aashiqui 3 will introduce Sreeleela to Bollywood, starring alongside Kartik. The film's poster features Kartik in a rugged appearance, complete with long hair and a beard. He portrays a rock star, playing the guitar and passionately singing the song ‘Tu Meri Zindagi Hai’ before an enthusiastic audience.

The eagerly awaited film, which is still awaiting its official title, had to abandon its initial name, Aashiqui 3, due to legal issues. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, the film is set to present a captivating love story. It is scheduled for release during Diwali 2025.
