Aseem Arrora Discusses the Evolution of Bollywood Screenwriting Trends for 2025

Mumbai, Dec 31(NationPress) 2024 has brought a mixed bag of reactions in terms of the Bollywood box office.
While some films like Stree 2, Singham Again, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 have achieved remarkable success, others such as Jigra, Khel Khel Mein, and Maidaan have struggled to make an impact. This raises the question of how vital a script is to a film's success and what writing trends might emerge in 2025.
When queried about this, the acclaimed writer Aseem Arrora, known for his work on The Sabarmati Report, expressed that we should confidently pursue quality mass films akin to Dangal, Pathan, 3 Idiots, Rang De Basanti, and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
He remarked, "We were performing admirably, with audiences and box office dynamics in sync. We must continue on this progressive trajectory in the upcoming year."
Aseem Arrora also shared his perspective on Bollywood's recent struggles with box office revenues, stating, "I agree that a significant amount of pre-pandemic writing has not resonated. The audience has been exposed to diverse narratives during the pandemic. Remakes are faltering for this reason. Nonetheless, I am optimistic that we will emerge stronger from this period."
The writer emphasized that one film from which we should take both pride and lessons is Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, explaining, "Sid Anand crafted a complete film, rich with twists, clever plot points, and modern dialogue."
Discussing his latest project, The Sabarmati Report, Aseem Arrora expressed his satisfaction with its critical and commercial success. He stated, "Collaborating with Ekta Kapoor has been an exhilarating experience. I was confident that co-producing with her would ensure the project was in capable hands and that I would have a meaningful role in the creation process."
Aseem Arrora also outlined his ambitions for his production company, Moral Of The Story, saying, "I aim to expand my role as a producer in 2025 and guarantee that the script reaches its utmost potential. I believe this should be the primary goal of a successful producer."
Meanwhile, another prominent writer, Anand L Rai, recently shared insights on his filmmaking philosophy. He noted that there is no singular approach to filmmaking. He added that his production company, Colour Yellow, focuses on dynamic stories that resonate with viewers. It will be intriguing to observe what 2025 holds for Bollywood.
