Mumbai, Sep 26 (NationPress) Actress Barkha Bisht has shared her insights on the evolving landscape of television viewership, highlighting how OTT platforms are transforming the way audiences engage with content.
In an exclusive chat with IANS, she remarked that the audience is presently fragmented, with most television programs also accessible on OTT platforms. Barkha emphasized that viewers now prefer to watch content at their own pace, which could create the perception of dwindling TV ratings.
When questioned about the influence of OTT platforms on television viewership, Bisht commented, “I believe the audience is indeed divided now. The majority of shows that air on television can also be viewed on platforms like JioCinema or Hotstar. People are watching at their own convenience now. This trend might give the impression that ratings are down, but they have merely been redistributed across various platforms. So, it’s not that individuals aren’t watching—they’re just consuming differently. I think this is something both producers and audiences should grasp. Content must evolve accordingly.”
Addressing the ongoing discussion regarding the differences between TV actors and those in film or OTT productions, the ‘Kamini’ actress pointed out that television actors acquire substantial technical expertise.
“Television actors gain a wealth of technical skills. When you're involved in a TV show, you are engaged in the same routine every single day, sometimes for years. Therefore, you naturally develop a strong understanding of the technical aspects. When you move to film or web series, that technical knowledge proves to be incredibly beneficial. Film and OTT actors don't always experience the same daily rigors that we do. We know our camera placements, our marks, and we memorize lines swiftly. These elements become second nature to us. I genuinely believe this is a significant advantage that television actors possess,” explained Barkha.
On the professional front, Barkha Bisht is preparing for her upcoming project, “Hello Knock Knock Kaun Hai”, which also features Sonali Kulkarni.
