Mumbai, April 16 (NationPress) As Sudhir Mishra's "Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi" celebrated its 20th anniversary on Wednesday, actress Chitrangda Singh reminisced about the film that marked her debut in the film industry. Reflecting on her first day on set, Chitrangda shared an emotional memory: “The first time I saw a proper movie camera was during my initial shoot. It was the scene where KK’s character visits (Geeta) at the guest house. That moment was both intimate and emotional, and I felt incredibly nervous blocking out everyone else in the room while acting without any lines. I will always remember that feeling. I think I nailed the shot in just two or three takes, and Sudhir Mishra welcomed me with, ‘Welcome to the movies, Chitrangda.’ That day remains vivid in my mind - filled with anticipation, anxiety, and joy.”
Directed by Sudhir Mishra, "Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi" became a cult classic, renowned for its intricate storytelling and outstanding performances. Chitrangda’s role as Geeta left a significant impact and continues to be honored even after two decades.
Set against the backdrop of the Indian Emergency, "Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi" follows three young individuals during the 1970s, a period of substantial social and political transformation in India. The film's title is inspired by a poem by the eminent Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib.
Chitrangda starred alongside Kay Kay Menon and Shiney Ahuja in her debut film.
Recently, she appeared in the Netflix series "Khakee: The Bengal Chapter", portraying the powerful and enigmatic Nibedita Basak.
Next, she will join the highly anticipated sequel, "Housefull 5", alongside Akshay Kumar.
This film features an ensemble cast that includes Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa, Soundarya Sharma, and Chunky Pandey.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner, "Housefull 5" is set to hit theaters on June 6.
