Mumbai, May 5 (NationPress) The talented music composing duo Clinton Cerejo and Bianca Gomes, operating under the creative banner Shor Police, are making their debut in Telugu cinema with the movie ‘Subham’. They expressed that they were granted total creative freedom for this project.
Produced by actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Shor Police, renowned for their experimental approach and emotionally charged soundscapes, has crafted the original soundtrack, infusing the film’s musical narrative with their trademark boldness and innovation.
Discussing the album, Clinton Cerejo shared with IANS, “This marks our first foray into the South film industry as composers, even though we have both lent our voices to South films previously. What thrilled us most about the Subham album was the creative freedom to explore an eclectic soundscape, which includes elements of R&B, rap, and nostalgic TV serial vibes. Collaborating with Samantha was an incredible opportunity, especially since this is her first production.”
He further elaborated, “Telugu audiences are exceptionally receptive to diverse musical genres, which allowed us to break free from our usual comfort zones and convey this quirky, multi-layered story through music. We genuinely enjoyed the experimentation, enabling us to explore musical ideas that we seldom get to play with in conventional film soundtracks.”
The album effectively encapsulates the energy and reflects the narrative arc of ‘Subham’. It showcases the film’s quirky horror-comedy essence through a diverse mix of genres, including R&B grooves, Telugu rap, hip-hop, retro soap melodies, and experimental contemporary electronic textures. Although the complete album has not been released yet, the current lineup already hints at a rich variety and impact.
Bianca Gomes expressed, "There’s nothing more fulfilling for an artist than being given a blank canvas, and that’s precisely what we received with this film. From the outset, we had total creative freedom. When collaborating with a director or producer for the first time, the creative process can take some time as you seek to understand their vision. Fortunately, we established that understanding early, which helped us elevate the music.”
She further stated, “In film music, it’s crucial to remain true to the characters and the story's mood. Ultimately, it’s about conveying the narrative to the audience; every element must harmonize. This freedom truly empowered us to create a powerful musical statement with these tracks.”
In addition to Subham, Shor Police has another Bollywood project in the works titled ‘Pune Highway’, which features a four-track album and includes a stellar array of artists such as Sunidhi Chauhan, Armaan Malik, Varun Jain, Siddharth Mahadevan, Shashwat Singh, and Yashita Sharma.
‘Subham’ is scheduled to hit theaters on May 9, 2025. A week later, Pune Highway will premiere on May 16, 2025, marking another milestone in the duo’s bold musical expedition.
