Salim Merchant Reveals the One Word that Defines Sonu Nigam

Mumbai, Dec 15 (NationPress) Music composer Salim Merchant states that the single word that encapsulates the essence of singer Sonu Nigam is “perfection”. He expressed that it is truly inspiring to observe him in action.

Salim shared a behind-the-scenes clip on Instagram, showcasing Sonu in a studio while recording the track “Jaan Le Gayi” for Salim-Sulaiman’s upcoming project “Bhoomi 2024”.

“One word... perfection. That’s what @sonunigamofficial embodies. It’s motivating and inspiring to witness his craft - his magic made it a delightful experience for everyone at the studio! @shraddhapandit beautifully penned this piece. @rajpandit17 is always on top of his game capturing Sonu’s finest vocal takes, which are quite challenging to select. @shivansh.j recorded all the epic moments. #JaanLeGayi,” the caption stated.

Salim–Sulaiman is a duo of music composers formed by siblings Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant.

The duo drew inspiration from their father, Sadruddin Merchant, who led the Ismaili Scouts Orchestra in India. Salim honed his piano skills at the Trinity College of Music in London, while Sulaiman trained in tabla under legends like Taufiq Qureshi and Ustad Zakir Hussain.

Years after their initial film composition, they gained recognition for their score in the film Bhoot.

They have crafted music for films like Neal 'n' Nikki, Chak De! India, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and Fashion. Initially, they focused on composing background scores until their song compositions for the Karan Johar-Shah Rukh Khan production Kaal garnered acclaim.

They have also created a Hollywood remix for Lady Gaga’s song Born This Way and collaborated on I'm A Freak by Enrique.

Regarding Sonu, he recently urged politicians not to attend performances if they plan to leave early, deeming it disrespectful to the artist.

In a video, Sonu was heard stating in Hindi: “During the performance, I noticed that the Chief Minister and others departed. Following their exit, all the delegates also left. I kindly request all politicians, if you cannot show respect to your artists, how can you expect the public to do so?”

“I urge you all. If you need to exit, please do not attend. Or leave before the show commences. Departing in the midst of an artist’s performance is exceedingly disrespectful. This is an insult to Saraswati.”
