Confusion Arises Over Rohit Bal's Will as Family and Lalit Tehlan Present Competing Claims

New Delhi, Dec 12 (NationPress) The will of luxury fashion designer Rohit Bal has sparked controversy, as his close friend and ex-model Lalit Tehlan claims to have it in his possession. Tehlan asserts that a significant portion of the inheritance is designated for him, even as the late designer's brother, Rajiv Bal, maintains that the family has a different will.

Rajiv revealed that neither he nor his family is aware of the will that Tehlan claims to possess from Rohit, affectionately known as Gudda, who passed away at the age of 63 on November 1.

Reports indicate that Tehlan stated Rohit owned 99% of Rohit Bal Designs Pvt Ltd., with only 1% belonging to his brother Rajiv.

Tehlan claimed that most assets fall under this company, which requires two directors, and he asserted that a "significant portion" will come to him, including "movable and immovable assets such as his personal residence, bank account, and fixed deposits."

As reported, Tehlan, who is a model and founder of Alexander Jeans by Rohit Bal, also mentioned that the designer bequeathed generous amounts to his employees, including his cook and driver, for their dedicated services.

In response to Tehlan’s assertions, Rajiv stated to the media that he also possesses a will and cannot comment further until he examines the one Tehlan claims to have.

Sunil Sethi, Chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India, has been appointed as the executor of the will.

The FDCI announced the passing of the renowned designer on November 1, who was celebrated for his unique lotus and peacock motifs.

Rohit had been battling a heart condition and was admitted to the intensive care unit earlier in 2023.

An Instagram post from the FDCI read: "We mourn the passing of legendary designer Rohit Bal. As a founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), his work redefined Indian fashion, blending traditional patterns with modern sensibilities, and inspiring future generations."

"His legacy of innovation and artistry will endure in the fashion industry. Rest in peace, GUDDA. You are a legend."

The designer’s final show took place at Lakme Fashion Week in the National Capital, where his muse was Bollywood actress Ananya Panday. She shared a moment from the grand finale on her Instagram stories, showcasing them walking the ramp together.
