Sunil Sethi Assures Transparency in Rohit Bal's Will: 'I Believe All Beneficiaries Are Listed'

Mumbai, Dec 12 (NationPress) The Will of the late fashion icon Rohit Bal has ignited a dispute involving his close associate and ex-model Lalit Tehlan and Bal's family. Sunil Sethi, who serves as the Chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and has been designated as the executor, expressed his intention for the process to be fully transparent, stating that he is confident the Will specifies all beneficiaries.
In an exclusive statement to IANS, Sunil revealed that being chosen to execute Rohit Bal's (affectionately referred to as Gudda) Will was unexpected for him.
He remarked, 'The responsibility of executing late Rohit Bal's Will was a bit of a surprise. Although we had a strong connection, this topic was never discussed between us. Nonetheless, it is crucial to handle this matter correctly. I am currently waiting for further information and details from the lawyers representing both parties, Lalit Tehlan and Rohit's family. After a thorough evaluation, we will proceed accordingly. Lalit's attorney has been in communication, and both parties are eager to present the Will - a medical family emergency has postponed this meeting.'
Sunil mentioned that while he has yet to review the full details of the Will, he has had access to some excerpts. He plans to witness the proceedings within the next one or two days, which will include both opposing parties along with several friends and admirers of Rohit.
He stated, 'I aspire for the process to be exceptionally transparent as Rohit left behind a significant legacy, and we aim to continue that legacy. It is vital that the brand maintains its longevity.'
'I hope this matter gets resolved amicably as soon as possible to prevent any harm to the Rohit Bal brand. We wish to avoid any controversies, and I firmly believe the Will includes all relevant beneficiaries. I am not in a position to question that. Ultimately, it will be for the Indian Courts to determine, as the lawyers and chartered accountants are well-equipped to deliver the right judgment.'
The renowned fashion designer Rohit Bal began his career alongside his brother Rajiv Bal in New Delhi back in 1986 at Company Orchid Oversea Pvt. Ltd. and launched his first independent collection in 1990.
Rohit passed away in New Delhi on November 1, 2024, at the age of 63 due to a cardiac-related issue.
