Mumbai, March 2 (NationPress) The team behind ‘Jab Khuli Kitaab’ released its trailer on Monday, delivering a heartfelt, comedic, and remarkably sincere look at one of the most touching representations of mature love in cinema. Actress Dimple Kapadia, who plays a pivotal role, expressed that this film felt like a project that checked all her boxes.

Dimple, portraying Anusuya, stated: “Jab Khuli Kitaab truly resonated with me, checking all the right boxes — a captivating narrative, the chance to work alongside Pankaj Kapur, and being directed by Saurabh Shukla, all set against the stunning backdrop of the mountains.”

She elaborated that Anusuya is crafted with remarkable depth, making it a pleasure to explore her various facets.

Dimple shared her thoughts on the character: “What attracted me to her was her straightforward intention — she isn't seeking to disrupt her marriage; she's striving for honesty within it. Such authenticity, especially after decades together, demands tremendous emotional bravery. It’s fulfilling to depict such a layered character.”

Written and directed by Saurabh Shukla, the film explores the emotional intricacies of a marriage that has lasted five decades, now shaken by a long-concealed truth.

The trailer provides a glimpse into the serene, familiar lives of Gopal, played by Pankaj Kapur, and Anusuya, a couple entwined in 50 years of shared routines, memories, and unspoken understanding. Their seemingly tranquil existence is upended when Anusuya reveals a buried secret, challenging the very foundation of their relationship.

As Gopal grapples with this revelation, he finds himself caught between heartbreak and self-respect, ultimately deciding to seek a divorce.

Regarding his character Gopal, Pankaj remarked, “What makes Jab Khuli Kitaab exceptional is Saurabh Shukla’s vision. It’s uncommon to encounter a filmmaker who chooses to highlight mature love with such authenticity, humor, and gentleness.”

He mentioned that Saurabh has developed a narrative that feels both refreshing and profoundly real.

The plot takes them to a young lawyer, played by Aparshakti Khurana, where challenging discussions start to unravel years of unexpressed feelings, lingering hurt, and hidden affection. As memories flow back and truths are revealed, the trailer unfolds as a poignant and subtle depiction of love tested by time.

Aparshakti added, “My character serves as an unexpected mirror through which Gopal and Anusuya begin to face their past. ‘Jab Khuli Kitaab’ is set to premiere exclusively on ZEE5 on March 6.
