Did Emraan Hashmi Just Claim That 2000s Bollywood Melodies Were Superior?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Nov 3 (NationPress) Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi, preparing for the debut of his latest film 'Haq', proudly reflects on a career filled with memorable tracks. Having starred in numerous hit songs, he observes a significant transformation in Bollywood's musical landscape over the last decade.
During a promotional event at a luxury hotel in Juhu, Mumbai, the actor shared his insights with IANS.
He acknowledged the evolution of Hindi film music, stating, “As new generations emerge, their preferences shift. Youngsters bring in a fresh perspective, influenced by their upbringing and the sounds they grow up with. Each generation connects with distinct melodies or frequencies.”
“It often leads to a repetitive sentiment where each generation believes their music reigns supreme while dismissing what follows. Admittedly, sometimes I feel that the melodies from the early 2000s resonate more,” he remarked with a smile.
Hashmi elaborated on how platforms like streaming services and advancements in technology have played a pivotal role in this musical shift.
“The creative process has become somewhat algorithm-driven, focusing on numbers. It's as if we say, ‘This song achieved hundreds of millions of streams, thus let’s dissect it and replicate its success’,” he noted.
“However, art cannot be quantified. It either resonates with you emotionally or it does not. That’s how I choose music for my films. If it evokes strong emotions—be it joy or sorrow—then it’s a good song,” he concluded.
