Gagan Gupta from Swipe Crime Discusses the Ubiquity of Dating Apps in Our Daily Lives

Mumbai, Dec 23 (NationPress) Actor Gagan Gupta, portraying Tamta Mama in the series Swipe Crime, recently elaborated on the reasons why social media platforms and dating applications have become an essential part of our daily lives.

Produced by Shruti Badjtaya and Harsh Mainra through Versatile Motion Pictures, Swipe Crime investigates the development and exploitation of a dating app, uncovering the more sinister aspects of social media and contemporary technology.

Gagan Gupta stated, “Social media and dating apps have become inseparable from our lives.” While acknowledging the advantages of these platforms for artists, he also reflected on their troubling implications. “Social media provides convenience, offering everything from food to clothing delivered right to your doorstep. However, it also presents risks—encounters with strangers, threats to privacy, and even strains on family relationships,” Gupta elaborated.

When questioned about the title, the actor remarked, “Swipe Crime feels as perilous as accidentally swiping your mobile screen in the wrong direction—what unfolds next?”

Directed by Harsh Mainra, Swipe Crime delves into the college experience intertwined with a dark and malevolent digital fraud, featuring a diverse cast including Abhishek Singh Rajput, Faisal Malik, Rishab Chadha, and Sanyam Sharma, among others.

Previously, Abhishek described Swipe Crime as a reflection of modern relationships. In discussing the series, he remarked, “Swipe Crime is not merely a narrative about crime; it serves as a mirror to contemporary relationships and the decisions we make in today’s digital landscape. Being involved in such a nuanced and captivating project has been immensely fulfilling, and I am eager for audiences to engage with it.”

Swipe Crime revolves around a group of college students ensnared in a treacherous web of deception and extortion. As they fall prey to manipulative online scams, they strive to escape the escalating turmoil. The series also highlights the devastating effects of cybercrime, which has shattered numerous lives across the nation. Despite the extensive damage, lawmakers have not provided sufficient assistance, leaving victims feeling deserted and powerless.

Swipe Crime premiered on Amazon MX Player on December 20.
