The trailer depicts Vikram Prabhu and Anushka Shetty as a loving couple living in the ghats. The impoverished local community, known as ghaatis, is exploited by smugglers for transporting ganja across the treacherous terrain. The smugglers display disdain for the ghaatis, who are instructed to limit themselves to carrying the goods across borders, as engaging in business is deemed unsuitable for them. The trailer suggests that while Vikram Prabhu may work in a hospital or dispensary, Anushka initially serves as a bus conductor. However, the couple eventually marries and strives to deliver justice to the marginalized ghaatis.
Originally slated for a July 11 release, the film is now scheduled for September 5.
Ghaati is produced by Rajeev Reddy and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi under UV Creations, marking the second collaboration between Anushka Shetty and Krish after their successful film ‘Vedam’.
Interestingly, this will be Anushka's fourth project with UV Creations.
The production team has revealed that Tamil actor Vikram Prabhu portrays the character Desi Raju.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Vikram Prabhu revealed he lost eight kilos for his role in this film.
