Los Angeles, Sep 1 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Jamie Lee Curtis recently revealed that she had a near encounter with the late Princess Diana. The 66-year-old actress took to her Instagram to share that she “almost met” the princess in 1997.
The recollection came as she honored Princess Diana on the 28th anniversary of her passing. Curtis shared a poignant photo of the princess with her arms outstretched to her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. She mentioned, “She was to visit the set of the sequel to A Fish Called Wanda, Fierce Creatures, while we were filming at Pinewood Studios, located about 20 miles west of London.”
During a break, Curtis explained that she “hopped into a golf cart to dash back to the dressing room for a restroom visit,” as reported by People magazine.
When Princess Diana arrived on the set with her sons, Curtis recounted, “My driver started banging on the door, informing me that she had come with her children, so I jumped back into the golf cart, but by the time I arrived, she was already leaving.”
According to People, the Freaky Friday star sent Diana a letter the next day detailing “why I couldn't be there and how much I admired her,” which she directed to Kensington Palace. To her astonishment, she received a response from the princess the following day.
“(She was) thanking me for reaching out and being understanding, noting that nature calls happen to her regularly, and she looked forward to our meeting. Sadly, she passed away two months later,” Curtis reflected. “I had just returned from England and vividly remember watching the news.”
The tragic loss occurred when Princess Diana died at the age of 36 in a horrific car accident in Paris on August 31, 1997, alongside her partner Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul.
