Los Angeles, Jan 24 (NationPress) The appearance of Hollywood icon Jason Momoa as the antihero Lobo in “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” has been revealed through footage released by filmmaker James Gunn.

In an Instagram video, Momoa is spotted exiting his film trailer with fangs in place. He enthusiastically exclaims, “Finally,” to the camera before heading to the set. The video transitions to an official look at Momoa’s portrayal of Lobo in the forthcoming superhero film.

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” features Milly Alcock, known for her role in “House of the Dragon,” as the titular hero (also known as Kara Zor-El). This film marks the second installment in Gunn and Peter Safran’s revamped DC Universe, following the 2025 release of “Superman,” showcasing David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, “Supergirl” also stars Matthias Schoenaerts as the antagonist Krem of the Yellow Hill and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle. The screenplay is penned by Ana Nogueira (“The Vampire Diaries”), based on the DC comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.

Momoa's casting was confirmed in December 2024, during which the “Aquaman” star shared a quote from a 2023 Fandango interview, as reported by variety.com.

“I collect comics, and while I don’t do it as much anymore, he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo. It’s the perfect role,” he stated in the interview.

“If they reach out to me about playing him, it’s an immediate yes. I haven’t received that call yet, so I don’t want to spread any false news, but if they ever ask me to audition, I’m all in.”

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is set to hit theaters on June 26.

Momoa’s journey began with his role as Jason Ioane in the syndicated action drama series Baywatch: Hawaii in 1999, followed by notable roles such as Ronon Dex in the sci-fi series Stargate Atlantis and Khal Drogo in the initial seasons of Game of Thrones.

He later starred in the historical drama series Frontier, and in the TV shows See and Chief of War. Since 2016, Momoa has been featured in various DC Comics adaptations, first as Aquaman. He has also portrayed Duncan Idaho in the sci-fi film Dune and starred in the action film Fast X.
