Los Angeles, Jan 4 (NationPress) Hollywood actor Jeremy Allen White expressed that he felt a wave of intimidation upon learning that Bruce Springsteen would frequently visit the set of his biopic ‘Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’.

The actor, now 34, portrays the legendary musician in this biographical musical drama. The pressure of meeting the expectations of fans of The Boss intensified when he discovered that the Born to Run songwriter, who also served as a producer for the film, would witness his performance up close, as reported by Female First UK.

During a discussion at The Hollywood Reporter's Actors Roundtable, fellow actor Dwayne Johnson prompted, "Jeremy, did you feel additional pressure taking on the role of one of the greatest ever?"

Jeremy responded, "Absolutely, he is one of the greatest, and people have their own perceptions of Bruce Springsteen. I felt a responsibility not to disrupt that perception. It’s so genuine and impactful, and he’s beloved. I just didn’t want to ruin it. Initially, I spent significant time with Bruce, who was incredibly gracious and generous with his time. However, he ended up being on set nearly every day, which was something we hadn’t discussed beforehand. I thought, 'Oh no!' Fellow actors Jacob Elordi and Mark Hamill empathized, with Jacob stating, "I saw pictures of that and felt for you,” while Mark added, “I get vicarious flop sweat just thinking about it.”

Despite being the first choice of both Bruce and director Scott Cooper, the Bear actor admitted he had doubts about being the right fit for the role. Ultimately, he took a "leap of faith."

He mentioned, "Some actors believe they can do anything and just figure it out. I wanted to ensure I was the right choice. The odds seemed against me. Scott wanted me to perform all the singing, yet I had never sung before. He also wanted me to play the guitar, which I had never done. We only had six months to prepare. I thought, 'I don’t know if that’s possible.' So I took a couple of days to consider it. But then I faced the question: ‘Am I going to shy away from this challenge or take a leap and see what unfolds?’ It was indeed a leap of faith,” he added.
