Mumbai, March 2 (NationPress) Actor John Abraham, who is preparing for his forthcoming film ‘The Diplomat’, has a profound interest in geo-politics. In fact, it’s this passion for geo-politics that attracted him to the project. However, an unrestrained interest can easily morph into an obsession, potentially leading to anxiety and disrupting cortisol and adrenaline levels within the body.

John has openly acknowledged that he sometimes experiences geo-political anxiety, akin to the environmental anxiety many people face. This is particularly concerning for someone like John, who is known for his exceptional fitness levels.

In a conversation with IANS prior to the film’s debut, he shared which recent geo-political events have piqued his interest.

John stated, “I am closely following developments between Israel and Hamas, as well as the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. I feel that Jerusalem is at the heart of every conflict today. The tensions surrounding East and West Jerusalem, the wall, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Wailing Wall or the Western Wall, the history since 1947, the Abraham Accord, the Balfour Accord, and everything that has unfolded has led to the current global situation.

The actor believes that possessing geo-political knowledge enhances awareness and sharpens one’s ability to form informed opinions, thereby improving decision-making skills.

He remarked, “When you have that kind of geopolitical knowledge at the back of your mind, as my character in ‘The Diplomat’ does, sometimes you might not vocalize it. However, the audience senses that this character is knowledgeable. That’s vital.”

Recently, Israel conducted airstrikes in Damascus, Syria. Reflecting on the bombings in Damascus, John commented, “Just when Damascus seemed to be stabilizing! What has gone amiss? I experience this geo-political anxiety; you know how people suffer from environmental anxiety, I bear the weight of geo-political anxiety. What’s going on with the world?”
