Mumbai, Sep 15 (NationPress) Filmmaker Karan Johar expressed his heartfelt thanks after his production “Homebound” garnered international acclaim at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Karan took to Instagram to share the film's poster, featuring stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor. He described the film’s worldwide acceptance and appreciation as surreal. The poster indicated that the film was the Second Runner Up at the 2025 International People's Choice Award category at TIFF.
“It’s always more meaningful when it’s the people's choice. Homebound is a story we all take immense pride in, and witnessing such global love and acceptance, transcending language and cultural barriers, is truly surreal! A huge thank you to @tiff_net for providing us this platform,” he stated.
Karan also extended his gratitude to National Award-winning director Neeraj Ghaywan for including him in “Homebound.”

The film, produced by Dharma Productions, follows the journey of two childhood friends from a remote village in North India who aspire to be police officers, believing that the profession will earn them the respect they have always desired. In addition, Karan’s upcoming production Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, featuring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, is slated for release on December 31. The film's release has been moved up from its original date of February 13, 2026.
