Mumbai, May 23 (NationPress) Karan Kulkarni, known for his impressive work on soundtracks and scores for films like ‘Shahid’, ‘Aligarh’, ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’, and ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’, has launched his inaugural EP, “One”, featuring four tracks.
Regarding the lead track ‘Iraade’ and the ‘One’ EP, Kulkarni commented: “With ‘Iraade’, I aimed to delve into the essence of quiet rebellion — a rebellion that originates within. The piece is anchored by a straightforward piano motif and enhanced with glitchy elements that transcend genre boundaries, mirroring the emotional journey of the EP ‘One’: a compilation influenced more by inquiries than by answers.
He further stated: “Whether grappling with self-doubt, confusion, or moments of clarity, each piece embraces belief and intuition. The sound evolves along with emotions, yet the goal remains constant: to inspire, unveil, and resonate with audiences.”
The lead single “Iraade”, now available, is characterized by smooth synths and vocal layers intertwined with intricate sounds.
His compositions have significantly impacted acclaimed films such as Shahid, Aligarh, Tumhari Sulu, and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, among others, collaborating with notable filmmakers like Hansal Mehta, Vasan Bala, Suresh Triveni, and Honey Trehan.
Upcoming English-language singles include “1985”, a track inspired by martial arts films that reflects on nostalgia and memories. The following piece, “I Love It”, presents a minimalistic, piano-driven exploration of the creative mindset and the significance of art.
The closing track, “Where Are We Going?”, merges rock, pop, and electronica, delivering a powerful conclusion rich with vibrant basslines, triumphant trumpets, and roaring riffs.
Throughout the EP, Kulkarni embraces vocal openness, textural richness, and futuristic, dream-like reflections.
Concerning the ‘One’ EP, he expressed: “With One, I am embarking on a new chapter in a journey that has been evolving for years. After dedicating a long time to composing for cinematic narratives, I now share my own story. This EP encapsulates everything I’ve learned, filtered through instinct and curiosity, showcasing a sound unique to me.”
“It feels like the emergence of a world I’ve quietly constructed in the background, and now, I’m fully stepping into it with listeners by my side. It’s both a homecoming and a new beginning. I hope listeners discover their own narratives within ‘One’.
