Mumbai, July 8 (NationPress) Karan Tacker, who has spent nearly seventeen years in the entertainment sector, navigating both TV and OTT platforms, does not believe he has yet reached his pinnacle as an actor; he remains committed to constant improvement. However, he acknowledged that following his impactful performance in ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter,’ the industry began to view him in a new light.
Karan made his acting debut in 2008 with a brief role in the Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma film “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.” He later secured his first significant role in the television series Love Ne Mila Di Jodi.
Since then, he has appeared in various shows including Rang Badalti Odhani, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (Season 7), and Special OPS.
When asked about the moment he felt he had made it as an actor, Karan expressed to IANS, “I still don't feel it. I think that would be a very pompous thought because the goal of any actor is to continually improve. When you aim for better, the gap between your current state and improvement can be daunting.”
“Finding a project that poses new challenges is what keeps my interest alive. That’s where the real struggle lies.”
While Karan stated he hasn’t felt like he has “arrived,” he believes that his role in ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter’ has allowed him to be recognized in a new way within the industry.
“I don't think any particular project has made me feel like I've arrived. However, I do sense a growing acceptance from the industry, especially after Khakee. I feel like the industry now perceives me differently, and I have many more projects I want to pursue.”
“I am fortunate enough to choose my projects carefully, allowing me to focus on what truly interests me. That is indeed a significant privilege for an actor.”
Does he perceive a shift in the definition of stardom?
“Yes, I believe that with the current environment, we are all under constant scrutiny. Just today, I was taking a picture in CP, and now I'm in CP. As actors and audiences alike, we are aware of every detail of each other's lives. This has reduced the aura of mystery that used to surround stardom.”
Karan feels this represents the new definition of stardom today.
“Stardom today means being widely consumed across all platforms—be it social media, advertisements, or live performances. I believe I have become a star—someone who is accessible everywhere, with audiences consuming my work more than ever.”
