Los Angeles, Dec 27 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Kate Hudson, who stars alongside Hugh Jackman in Craig Brewer’s musical biopic Song Sung Blue, admits to being an “easy crier” and estimates that she tears up at least once every other day.
“I cry every day because every time Hugh and I discuss the movie, we become quite emotional,” Hudson shared with people.com regarding her new film inspired by the actual Neil Diamond tribute band, Lightning & Thunder.
It doesn’t take much for Hudson to shed tears.
Explaining her emotions, she stated: “I cry really easily. I’m an easy crier. ... I could look at an Instagram post and start crying. Especially when I see children saying something profound.”
“I think I probably cry at least once every other day. Crying is always a good thing. It truly is.”
The actress mentioned that her family — including her mom Goldie Hawn and brother Oliver Hudson — is also in touch with their emotions.
“We’re all criers,” she said. “Our entire family, everyone except maybe Pa (Kurt Russell) and Wyatt. We’re quite emotional.”
Song Sung Blue narrates the tale of Claire, played by Hudson, and Mike Sardinia, portrayed by Jackman, who created their tribute band Lightning & Thunder in 1989 for the “Sweet Caroline” singer, as their professional connection blossoms into romance.
During the 2025 Gotham Awards, the co-stars expressed their admiration for one another.
“His superpower is making connections, whether it’s on stage, on set, or with everyone around him. He genuinely wants to connect and ensure that everyone is happy,” Hudson explained, addressing Jackman beside her.
“Moreover, I learned that one of the greatest gifts you can offer people is the desire to connect with them, and I believe you provide that to everyone.”
Jackman responded, “I learned a lot from Kate. I’ve participated in nearly 50 films, but somehow, working with Kate — it's hard to describe, but balancing preparation with instinct is a delicate line, and nobody does it better than Kate Hudson.”
He added, “Being with her... I think I’ve become a better actor.”
