Chennai, July 15 (NationPress) One of the leading directors in Indian cinema, Lokesh Kanakaraj, has clarified that Sanjay Dutt, the renowned Bollywood actor, reached out to him after his recent remark about being "wasted" in the Vijay-starring film 'Leo'. Dutt explained that his comment was made in jest and appeared awkward when taken out of context.
To provide some background, Sanjay Dutt was present at the Tamil teaser launch of the Kannada film KD - The Devil in Chennai, where he answered media inquiries about collaborating with Tamil stars and maintaining those relationships. He expressed immense respect for icons like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, stating, "I admire Rajini sir and Kamal sir greatly. They are my seniors, and I learn a lot from them. I have collaborated with Rajini sir in several Hindi films, and he is one of the most humble individuals I've encountered."
Dutt further mentioned, "I enjoyed working with Thalapathy Vijay, but humorously remarked, 'I am upset with Lokesh because he didn’t give me a significant role in Leo. (Laughs) He wasted me.'"
In a subsequent video interview with a well-known publication, Lokesh Kanakaraj revealed that Dutt called him right after the media session to clarify his statement.
"Sanjay Dutt sir told me, 'I made that comment jokingly, but people cut it out and it appears awkward. I didn’t intend it that way.' I responded, 'No worries, sir. It’s all good.' I am not the greatest filmmaker who would intentionally undermine other characters. I've made numerous mistakes in my films; it’s all part of the learning process, right?"
Lokesh also expressed his desire to collaborate on a significant project with Dutt in the future.
Moreover, Lokesh announced that the trailer for his upcoming film Coolie, featuring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role, will debut on August 2 this year.
