Mumbai, Dec 3 (NationPress) Colors’ new drama, Seher Hone Ko Hai, features Mahhi Vij in the role of Kausar, alongside newcomer Rishita Kothari as Seher, presenting a heartfelt narrative of a mother-daughter struggle for independence.

After nearly ten years, Mahhi returns to scripted television, sharing her off-screen relationship with Rishita. "I have essentially become her mother off the set. I constantly check in on her, asking if she has eaten, if she needs anything, or if she’s feeling exhausted," Mahhi remarked.

"I tell her to convince her real mom to disown her because I am more than willing to adopt her! That reflects our special connection," she added. Mahhi described Rishita as having a gentle, calming presence on set, and due to this being Rishita's debut, Mahhi feels a natural protective instinct, similar to that of a mother watching her child step into a larger world. "We share many joyful moments, while simultaneously learning from each other," she expressed.

Mahhi also emphasized that she required no elaborate preparation to embody a mother on screen. "The relationship between the mother and daughter in this series didn't demand extensive rehearsal; it called for authenticity," she stated. As a real-life mother, Mahhi connected deeply with Kausar’s protective nature, which stems from her own experiences. "I didn’t need to conjure that fear or desperation; it’s inherent in every mother," she elaborated.

"Instead, my focus was on grasping the quieter, inner aspects of Kausar, the weariness of facing the same struggles repeatedly, the guilt of not providing her daughter with more, and the small moments of resilience she gathers to endure another day. I didn’t prepare to ‘act’ like a mother; I simply felt it," Mahhi explained.

The show is set against the backdrop of Lucknow and follows Kausar as she strives to offer her sixteen-year-old daughter, Seher, the educational opportunities and choices she herself was deprived of, battling the constraints of a patriarchal society and her own husband.

Joining the cast is actor Parth Samthaan.
