Mumbai, July 19 (NationPress) Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has voiced her concerns for Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan following news of his recent muscle injury sustained while filming his upcoming project 'King' on Saturday.
Mamata took to her X, previously known as Twitter, to express her feelings for her “brother” Shah Rukh Khan. She mentioned, “The news about my brother Shah Rukh Khan suffering muscular injuries during filming has made me anxious. I wish him a quick recovery. @iamsrk (sic).
The superstar, who was last featured in 'Dunki', was swiftly transported to the USA for medical attention. He had to pause the filming of 'King' and is expected to take a month-long hiatus from the shoot.
King Khan is no stranger to injuries, having persevered through pain in the past. Back in December 2001, SRK experienced a spinal injury while executing an action sequence for a cameo in Krishna Vamsi's Shakti: The Power. He was later diagnosed with a prolapsed disc and attempted several alternative treatments.
Unfortunately, none of these remedies offered a lasting solution to his injury, which caused him significant discomfort while filming various projects. By 2003, his condition deteriorated, leading him to undergo anterior cervical discectomy and fusion surgery at Wellington Hospital in London.
On another note, the bond between Mamata and SRK is commendable, as King Khan is also the owner of the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, which has its home base in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal.
The Kolkata Knight Riders are among the only teams, alongside Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, to have clinched multiple IPL titles.
While CSK and MI each boast 5 IPL titles, KKR has triumphed three times. Under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, KKR secured the IPL title in 2012 and 2014, while Shreyas Iyer led them to their third championship victory in 2024. They also finished as runners-up in 2021, losing to CSK.
