How Does Manish Wadhwa Explore Wisdom and Ego in 'Shankar- The Revolutionary Man'?

Mumbai, July 23 (NationPress) Actor Manish Wadhwa has shared insights about his character in the upcoming series “Shankar—The Revolutionary Man.”

In an exclusive interview with IANS, he elaborated on how he navigates the dual themes of wisdom and ego through his role. The ‘Gadar 2’ actor remarked, “Mandan Mishra is portrayed as a revered guru with numerous followers and a distinguished scholar. However, a significant event transforms everything—he is forced to assume the role of a disciple in front of a young sannyasi, a child. Just imagine a highly respected and knowledgeable individual bowing to the wisdom of a child. This fall—and the subsequent events—constitute the twist. How this unfolds will captivate the audience.”

When questioned about the differences between his character in ‘Shankar – The Revolutionary Man’ and his real-life persona, as well as the challenges faced, Manish Wadhwa mentioned that the role compelled him to delve into contrasting emotions, making it both a demanding and creatively satisfying experience.

“Every character presents its own set of challenges. If something appears easy, it may not offer the satisfaction of performing. The internal conflict is what makes it rewarding. Though it’s challenging, it’s also enjoyable. I’ve begun preparing as my shooting schedule approaches. I’m focusing on how to portray him distinctly from my previous roles. Just as individuals can appear different even in identical outfits, each character carries its unique essence.”

When asked if ego plays a crucial role in Mandan Mishra’s journey, Manish affirmed, “Absolutely. When one possesses profound knowledge, there’s a risk of ego infiltrating. If you become arrogant about your wisdom, it may lead to your downfall. That’s the fate of Mandan Mishra. He faces a challenge—not physically, but intellectually—and that challenge diminishes his ego.”

“What’s remarkable is that this isn’t about defeat in a typical sense. It’s about being swayed by superior wisdom. In the creative realm as well, be it cinema or any other domain, it boils down to this: either you persuade the other, or they persuade you. This exchange of ideas is fundamental.”
