Los Angeles, June 14 (NationPress) Matthew McConaughey is preparing to collaborate again with Nic Pizzolatto, the mind behind ‘True Detective’, for an exciting new project.

This upcoming title promises to be a grand detective narrative. McConaughey is currently in discussions to take on the lead role in a feature film from Skydance, centered around the legendary private investigator character Mike Hammer, with a screenplay crafted by Pizzolatto, as reported by ‘Variety’.

In 2014, McConaughey featured in the inaugural season of Pizzolatto’s HBO crime anthology alongside Woody Harrelson. Skydance has secured the rights to the Mike Hammer franchise created by Mickey Spillane and Max Allan Collins and aims to adapt the acclaimed book series into a cinematic experience.

According to ‘Variety’, the production team from Skydance, including David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger, will be producing alongside Guymon Casady from Entertainment 360. Benjamin Forkner and Ken F. Levin are also on board as producers. Collins will serve as the executive producer, with Jane Spillane as co-producer. The project will be supervised by Carin Sage for Skydance.

Deadline was the first outlet to break this news.

After a hiatus of six years, McConaughey made his return to the screen with ‘The Rivals of Amziah King’ and will soon co-star with America Ferrera in the Apple TV+ disaster thriller ‘The Lost Bus’.

“I needed to write my own story, direct my own story on the page,” McConaughey revealed to Variety earlier this year concerning his time away from acting. Pizzolatto, an award-winning novelist, screenwriter, producer, and director, is best known for creating and overseeing the first three seasons of HBO’s ‘True Detective’.

His literary works are available in over 30 languages, and he is a multiple nominee for the Emmy and Golden Globe awards, having also received two Writer’s Guild Awards. His recent projects include his debut film as a writer-director, “Easy’s Waltz”, along with various initiatives for Skydance and a television series currently in development with Netflix.
