Composer Mithoon has revealed the creative reasoning behind casting debutant singer Subodhh Sharma as the voice of 'Ve Junoon', the first track from the upcoming film Awarapan 2. Released on Tuesday, 7 July 2025, the song marks a significant moment — both as the film's musical debut and as a breakthrough for a sound engineer turned vocalist.

The Voice Behind the Song

Mithoon described the selection of Subodhh Sharma as instinctive rather than calculated. 'Ve Junoon' demanded a voice that could hold pain and vulnerability alongside quiet strength — a balance, according to the composer, that Sharma delivered without effort.

'Creating the music for Awarapan 2 stems from a very special creative chemistry we share. Vishesh creates a deeply emotional world, and Quadri Sahab has this rare ability to turn the most complex emotions into words that feel simple and personal,' Mithoon said. 'With Ve Junoon, we knew the voice had to carry pain and vulnerability but also a certain strength. When we heard Subodhh, there was an honesty in his voice that connected immediately with the emotion of the song. For me, that instinctive connection was all that mattered.'

A Sound Engineer's Unlikely Debut

Subodhh Sharma spent over 12 years working as a sound engineer before his singing came to the attention of producer Vishesh Bhatt, who reportedly discovered him through an Instagram reel. The path from behind the console to centre-stage is rare in Bollywood, and Bhatt framed the find in unambiguous terms.

'Ve Junoon is the result of that brilliance, elevated by Subodhh's voice. He carries something rare and raw that no amount of experience can teach. You either have it or you don't. And he does,' Bhatt said.

What the Song Represents

Lyrically, 'Ve Junoon' is written by veteran poet Sayeed Quadri and reflects the inner world of the film's protagonist, Shivam Pandit — a man wrestling with his deepest fears and questioning whether love was ever a path meant for him. The track is positioned as an emotional turning point in his arc.

The makers accompanied the release with the caption: 'Iss Awarapan ke Junoon mein hona hai tabaah #VeJunoon song out now.' The song has been released under Vishesh Films and Sony Music India.
