Mumbai, Aug 4 (NationPress) Renowned actor Mukesh Khanna has openly criticized the late filmmaker Yash Chopra. During the inaugural episode of his storytelling series, "Dreamers", he shared an unpleasant encounter with actor Sudhanshu Rai.
Khanna recounted how his elder brother, Jaggi, presented Chopra with two reels of the film "Khooni", only to receive a cutting remark about him.
The creator of "Chandni" reportedly stated, “When one has the option of foreign liquor, why would he choose country liquor?” In this analogy, the "foreign liquor" represented the prominent stars of that era like Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, and Vinod Khanna, while "country liquor" symbolized Khanna himself.
This metaphor deeply offended Khanna, prompting him to avoid any future interactions with Chopra.
Despite such setbacks, Khanna rose to prominence with memorable roles, including Bhishma Pitamah in "Mahabharat" and as India’s inaugural superhero in "Shaktimaan".
During the engaging discussion, Khanna also reflected on a challenging period in his career, marked by a string of unsuccessful films that raised doubts about his future in the industry.
Nevertheless, he credited his elder brother Jaggi as his unwavering source of motivation and guidance.
On the professional front, Khanna is preparing to reprise his role as the legendary 1990s Indian superhero ‘Shaktimaan’ for an audio series.
This new version, produced by Pocket FM, will showcase Khanna as the country's first superhero, utilizing his powerful voice.
Excited about this venture, he expressed that he is “thrilled to come back as the voice of the cherished hero and connect with a fresh generation of listeners.”
“This platform provides an excellent opportunity to reintroduce Shaktimaan’s values, strength, and superpowers, along with new narratives for today’s youth in a format they enjoy,” he added.
