The playful jest became a hot topic back then. Recently, Neil shared his thoughts on the matter, revealing if the joke ever upset him and how he managed to handle it. The ‘New York’ star told IANS, “I never took it seriously, nor did they. People still inquire about it, but there was no ill will. I hold them in high regard. They are respected figures in our industry. It was all in good fun. Shah Rukh and Saif have brought immense joy to our nation. I aspire to collaborate with them one day. Overanalyzing such moments isn’t necessary.”
During the 2009 Filmfare Awards, Shah Rukh Khan jokingly asked Neil Nitin Mukesh about his “three names.” SRK quipped, “I have a question for Neil Nitin Mukesh. Your name is Neil Nitin Mukesh, but where’s the surname? All are first names!”
Neil responded with wit, stating, “Sir, very kind question, thank you. But may I say something?” After getting a nod from Shah Rukh, Neil added, “That’s actually an insult to me. It’s inappropriate. I believe you haven’t noticed, but my father is present here. I think you guys should be quiet. My apologies.”
