Nicki Minaj Faces Lawsuit for Alleged Assault and Battery by Ex-Employee

Los Angeles, Jan 4 (NationPress) The American rapper Nicki Minaj has been hit with a lawsuit concerning accusations of assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The allegations have been made by a man who asserts that the Grammy-nominated artist struck him in the face during a dispute, as reported by Variety.

In a lawsuit submitted on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Brandon Garrett claimed that while he was employed as a day-to-day manager for Minaj's Pink Friday 2 tour, she allegedly hit him multiple times.

According to Variety, the incident reportedly took place backstage at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on April 21 after one of Minaj's concerts.

In a statement released to Variety, Minaj's attorney, Judd Burstein, categorically denied these claims and criticized an initial report by TMZ.

“Currently, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty (Minaj's husband is Kenneth Petty), and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations,” Burstein stated. “However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is entirely false and without merit. We are confident that this matter brought by the former assistant will be resolved quickly in Mrs. Petty's favor.”

The lawsuit indicates that Garrett was returning from an errand requested by Minaj when he received a message from her head of security, Larry Dathan, who allegedly informed Garrett that Minaj wanted to see him in her dressing room.

Upon his arrival, Garrett claims that eight members of Minaj's team were present, including Dathan, another staff member named Luke Montgomery, and her former manager Deb Antney. Garrett states that Minaj began to express frustration about the staff not knowing their roles, then turned to Montgomery to question his position.

“Mr. Montgomery explained that his responsibilities included tasks such as venue dressing room preparation, private jet arrangements, hotel room organization, quick change room refreshments, and tour bus coordination,” the complaint noted. “Mr. Montgomery added that these duties were in addition to any requests from Minaj communicated by Garrett, including food orders, beverages, personal items, baby supplies, and, importantly, prescriptions.”

Garrett clarified that he had Montgomery pick up the prescriptions due to his involvement with tour duties, which included assisting Minaj with quick costume changes during her performances.
