Los Angeles, June 1 (NationPress) The creators of ‘Frankenstein’, featuring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, have released the initial teaser for the anticipated film at Netflix's Tudum event.
In the trailer, over two minutes long, Oscar Isaac portrays Dr. Victor Frankenstein, a genius yet narcissistic scientist who animates a being, played by Jacob Elordi, through a grotesque experiment that ultimately leads to the downfall of both the maker and his tragic creation.
The film's official statement revealed: “A brilliant but egotistical scientist brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.”
This upcoming project is Guillermo del Toro‘s long-awaited interpretation of the 1818 literary masterpiece by Mary Shelley, set to premiere this November on Netflix. Renowned for his inventive creature features, Del Toro has dedicated over a decade to bringing this Frankenstein vision to life.
During Tudum, Del Toro described it as “the culmination of a journey that has occupied most of my life,” emphasizing, “Monsters have become my personal belief system. There are strands of Frankenstein throughout my films.”
Del Toro previously spoke about the significance of Mary Shelley’s work to his career while accepting the BAFTA for Best Director in 2018 for The Shape of Water. He stated, “The most important figure from English legacy is, incredibly, for me, a teenager by the name of Mary Shelley, and she has remained a figure as important in my life as if she were family.”
Following his third Oscar win for Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, another adaptation for Netflix, Del Toro's Frankenstein also features Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz.
Del Toro wrote and directed the film, producing it alongside his longtime collaborator J. Miles Dale and Scott Stuber.
Netflix premiered the teaser for Frankenstein during Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event, a preview streamed live from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Other films teased included Happy Gilmore 2, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, and The RIP.
